University Staff Portal
On your first day, if you require any IT help or advice please visit the University Staff Portal at hull.service-now.com where you can log and track your requests and queries online, search the Knowledge Base for answers to frequently asked questions, instantly access key service information and find the latest news from IT Services.
IT Services are also available for face-to-face visits for staff on weekdays between 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00 located on the ground floor of the Applied Science building, no appointment is required.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA is used to secure your access to University services and documents, in order to protect our data from the increasing threat of cyber-crime. MFA is now widely used for access to sensitive information, and it’s likely you’ve used a similar method for things like Internet Banking in the past.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
The University uses Microsoft Intune to ensure secure and reliable mobile access to University data and services. For personal devices (e.g smartphones, tablets), it provides a secure way to access University data and applications while maintaining your privacy.

Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is available for all University of Hull students and members of staff for online communication and collaboration. You can use Microsoft Teams to:
- Hold online audio and video meetings
- Instant message
- Share your screen
- Work together on documents
Teams also integrates with other apps and Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel helping you to work seamlessly and securely wherever you are.
Campus WiFi (Eduroam)
Eduroam offers impressive speeds wherever you are on campus. Once set up, your device allows you to connect automatically should you visit other Universities and locations offering the Eduroam service.
Email Account
Email is the University’s main communication channel for sending official messages to students and staff. Your University of Hull email account will regularly receive updates, news, and important information from your department and the University. As well as your inbox, other features of email include a calendar, task lists and reminders. Please avoid using your University email address to sign up for personal accounts such as online shopping.
You can access email by visiting 365.hull.ac.uk and logging in with your University userID and password. You can also connect your email to your PC and mobile devices. Further information and instructions can be found by searching “Email” on the Staff Portal.
OneDrive
OneDrive is an online cloud storage service within Office 365 which lets you store files so you can access them from multiple devices, and is perfect for flexible working. You can get to OneDrive by signing in at 365.hull.ac.uk and selecting the OneDrive option from the Navigation Bar found at the top left hand side of the window.
Smartprint
SmartPrint allows you to send documents to print from your computer, mobile or tablet. You can log in to any SmartPrint device on campus to print and collect your documents. You can also use SmartPrint for photocopying and to scan and send your documents through email.
Software Center
Software Center is available on all Windows staff devices from the start/windows menu for one-click software installation. Simply search for the software you require and click Install. If you have a University imaged Mac, please go to the Software Catalog to find the available software for Mac devices.
People Directory
Search the People Directory to find contact details (phone numbers, email addresses) of University staff and other colleagues. You can search by name, job role, team, department or building. People Directory is available from any device connected to the University network or eduroam at directory.hull.ac.uk.
Working Remotely
University managed devices are the standard for secure, supported access to our network for staff.

Requesting IT Equipment
Your IT equipment will have been requested for you already by your line manager. If there is any other equipment you will require as part of your role, please go to the Request for IT Equipment form on the portal.
